Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Deputy Manager to join our Sterile Services team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional decontamination services across our two main hospitals. As a key player in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, you will support the Sterile Services Manager in overseeing staff, resources, and daily operations within our state-of-the-art Sterile Services Department.

We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in sterile services or a related healthcare field, particularly with a focus on quality and safety. You should have strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide your team to meet and exceed departmental goals. A proactive approach to ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting continuous improvement in service delivery will be essential.

You will also need excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively and make decisions that enhance the overall performance of the department. Main duties of the job

What You'll Be Doing:

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Sterile Services Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department. Your focus will be on maintaining high standards and ensuring that operations align with the goals of providing the highest quality of decontamination services. You will also be responsible for leading and motivating a dedicated team, ensuring that all staff members are well-trained, supported, and performing to their best potential.

You will play a key part in maintaining and improving the quality and safety of decontamination services, making sure that the department meets and exceeds compliance with industry standards such as HTM 01-01 and ISO 13485:2016. This will involve overseeing processes to ensure that all services are performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, helping to ensure the safety and care of our patients.

Additionally, you will contribute to the overall delivery of high-quality patient care by upholding our commitment to safety, quality, and best practices. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, you will ensure that all aspects of the department meet regulatory standards while helping to streamline processes for greater efficiency.

  • To utilise a range of communication and management skills to instruct, inform and negotiate in order to carry out the management of the Sterile Services Department. This will include receiving & providing complex information to members of staff and service users.
  • To be responsible for the Quality Management Systems of Sterile Services. To work with external auditors to ensure accreditation is maintained and that all current legislation and best practice recommendations are implemented
  • To communicate effectively; verbally, in writing and where appropriate using electronic formats to other disciplines, departments, organisations and service users on service related issues.
  • To take an active role in service meetings, providing technical information and advice. To maintain and develop effective communication systems within Sterile Services, ensuring all relevant information is disseminated to managers and staff.
  • To communicate in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Deals with complex situations, taking responsibility for managing non-conformance issues with service users.
