Job summary

An exciting 12 month opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual who has the enthusiasm and ability to work in a challenging but equally rewarding NHS IT environment.

You will form part of a team whose primary role is to provide desktop IT/Telecoms support to users throughout the Trust and with providing quality, first point of contact for computer and telephony users requiring assistance via the IT Service desk working remotely or directly with the customer.

Main duties of the job

You must be proficient in providing first line support across the End User Compute and Telephony estate and also first line support knowledge of Networks, Servers and mobile technology. This post is one of a number at this level and will provide support to users at all Trust sites.

It is also essential that you are flexible, enthusiastic and can display high levels of initiative, together with the ability to work under pressure individually and as part of a team and undertake your duties with minimum supervision. You must possess good communication skills and be able to deal with users in a pleasant and efficient manner.You may be required to participate in the Departments' out-of-hours on-call rota and working on rotation based at Preston and Chorley Hospitals.

Essential

  • Demonstrable previous experience in a technical support role
  • Detailed knowledge of: M365 , PC and server hardware & troubleshooting, MS Windows 10 & 11, Active Directory
  • Voice technology
  • Experience in a customer service environment.

Desirable

  • Microsoft products, PC hardware and software
  • Working with Cisco network products. Experience of VMware
  • Openscape voice or equivalent system knowledge
  • Experience in NHS voice environment

Qualifications and Education

Essential

  • Degree/HND level computing qualification or equivalent proven knowledge in IT & Voice technology fields.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional certifications or other recognised IT/voice certification

Desirable

  • Microsoft Certified Software Engineer
  • Cisco CCNP qualification
  • Prince 2 or equivalent certification
