Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced Senior Building Manager at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our in-house, multi-disciplinary Estates Team. You will need to be able to demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism, working within a fast-paced healthcare environment and should be a self-starter and be able to work effectively both individually and lead a team.

You will be the lead specialist for all building professional and technical matters within the Trust, providing expert advice and interpretation on all matters regarding legislation as they apply to healthcare estates. You will ensure building activities provide value for money, formulate contingency plans and devise maintenance strategies to ensure continuity of service while complying with statutory standards.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the strategic development and operational management, directing a multi-disciplinary team, providing an effective and efficient maintenance service including the Trust Facilities Management System, asbestos and water safety management, grounds maintenance including winter gritting rota, waste management clinical and domestic and general building trades' management.

You will also be responsible for the management of all building and contract estate services to ensure that developments meet the needs of the Trust, ensuring that all building and engineering services managed under contract are provided in line with users expectations.

  • Master's Degree / Chartered status in an appropriate subject or equivalent experience or relevant experience working in a similar role

Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification in a construction related discipline

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in-depth knowledge and proven ability in managing complex NHS estates services

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate technical understanding of a range of services provided by the Trust
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the design requirements of Healthcare buildings
  • Fully conversant with statutory requirements, NHS Estates guidance, Codes of Practice and the requirements of Regulatory Bodies
  • Able to use IT systems
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the strategic implications of the built environment to the Trust and other Trusts managed under contract
  • Ability to formulate/assess objectives as part of the implementation of the management process
  • Ability to manage expenditure against allocated budget
  • Ability to manage contracts in accordance with capital procedure notes, standing financial instructions and conditions associated with formal contracts
