Job summary

We are looking for a hard working and dynamic person to join our friendly, supportive Respiratory Physiology team. You will assist the Physiologists in implementing the diagnostic pathway of patients referred for assessment of their lung function within the Trust new Preston Community Diagnostic Hub.

Ideally you will have at least 12 months of experience working within an acute healthcare setting and be able to work under minimal supervision. We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills and can prioritise their workload effectively.

We welcome applications from candidates who do not currently have the required experience for this role but would be willing to undertake a 24 month apprenticeship in order to learn the relevant skills.

Main duties of the job

You will plan, undertake and perform simple initial interpretation on a range of diagnostic assessments.

Such investigations would include:

  • Spirometry
  • Peak Flow
  • Flow/volume loops
  • Reversibility of airways obstruction with bronchodilators
  • Exhaled nitric oxide.

You will provide support for the sleep and CPAP team by providing ongoing assistance to long term patients in the use and care of their therapy under the supervision of the sleep physiologists.

You will also provide support and advice for other staff and student's, to support them in reaching their full potential.

You will also support the productive operation of the lung function laboratory by undertaking a number of activities to contribute to the maintenance of a clean safe environment and to maintain standards of care and practice.
