We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Radiographer to join our fun & friendly team within this busy and fast paced CT department. You will be required to work mainly at Royal Preston Hospital and on the new Community Diagnostic Centre mobile but may also be required to work at Chorley Hospital.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in CT scanning but training will be provided to suitable and highly motivated candidates.
Within the trust we have 5 static CT scanners and a new Siemens mobile scanner at our CDC site. At Preston we have 2 Siemens scanners in the main department and a Philips scanner in ED CT. We also have a Canon scanner within PMCT. At Chorley we have a Siemens scanner.
Within the department we undertake a wide variety of scans including major trauma, neuro, oncology, vascular, cardiac and colonography.
If desired, there is also the possibility of gaining experience working in the PMCT department. We actively encourage role development and continuous professional development.
Flexible work plans are in place to cover a wide range of duties including out of hours, weekends and nights.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the planning and allocation of work in the specific area of the department assigned, to ensure the timely delivery of an effective service.
You will monitor and maintain standards of professional practice, supervise more junior staff and students and deploy staff assuring standards are met.
You will provide leadership and direction to the team, acting as a role model and patient advocate.
You will assess, plan and make informed decisions on the required Imaging examinations providing advice and maintaining associated records.
You will support the aims and vision of the Trust and take personal responsibility for the quality of the service provided.

- Assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
- Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
- Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines
- Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
- Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Communicate with patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
