We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join an innovative team of ASP's in our Urology department, running the suspected cancer pathway from referral to diagnosis. This post is directed at a qualified independent Advanced Clinical/Specialist Practitioner or a Trainee ACP/ASP who will be supported through their training. Main duties of the job
You will be a key member of the Urology team and act as an autonomous practitioner. They will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive service for managing patients who are referred into the Urology service on a two week rule cancer pathway. This will be a developing role, with a staggered approach into the independent management of the two week rule pathway as the role holder's competency, education, experience and confidence grows alongside a training, development and coaching plan.

They will enhance practice and research capability, providing professional clinical leadership to regional, national and international multidisciplinary research programmes. Within the area of specialism, the post holder will be responsible for the education and professional development for all disciplines of staff including specialist registrars/clinical fellows, contributing to the delivery of educational programmes, delivered by the organisation and outside providers as appropriate. They will lead on practice and service development through the application of research and evaluation within the specialism. It is expected that the role is predominantly clinically based. All of your work will be done in collaboration with medical, nursing and AHP colleagues.
You would work closely with the Urology surgical consultant team and other key stakeholders including patient navigators, utilising team and patient feedback to develop and grow the service. As this is a new and unique role, the post holder must be flexible to the needs of the Urology service, the role direction will adapt and change with the service needs.

Essential
- oProfessional clinical qualification
- oCurrent professional Body registration
- oMaster's Degree in Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice / Masters degree in relevant specialist clinical field. Independent Non Medical Prescribing qualification. (where legally able to).
- oEvidence of continuing professional development.
- oNon-medical Prescribing.
- oBSc in appropriate clinical field or commitment to complete when in post
Desirable
- oTeaching Qualification (7307/Certificate in Education/equivalent) or willing to undertake
- oAdvanced Life Support Qualification
- oLeadership/Management qualification or willingness to undertake.
- oAccredited education and competency in flexible cystoscopy
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- oHighly motivated and experienced practitioner with substantive range of experience within a relevant clinical setting.
- oRecent, substantial surgical care experience
- oBroad & advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology
- oSound level of knowledge in relation to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- oHas the knowledge to support safe clinical decision making in relation to discharge
- oProven leadership experience including delivering to targets and service improvement.
Desirable
- oExperience in managing chronic health issues
- oKnowledge of more than one area of clinical practice - i.e surgery,medicine, orthopaedics, ITU
- oExperience in a senior nursing/AHP position in Urology
