* This is a 6 month secondment post*

Team MAU are looking for experienced Nurses with a passion for Acute Medicine. If you have this and enjoy working in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure whilst supporting junior staff ,then you are exactly what we need on MAU.

We are a busy 30 bedded unit, which takes referrals from Preston ED, AAU and SDEC . We treat a variety of medical conditions, along with acutely unwell service users. Patients target is to stay on the unit 48-72 hours and from this point to be discharged home or transferred to another unit. We are an established team consisting of excellent multi disciplinary working, various skills and knowledge, who pride ourselves on striving to achieve our shared vision of moving forward and raising standards.

Main duties of the job

You will support the Ward managers and Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within or by the ward, department, service or team.

You will be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and well being care needs of patients, in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework Provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the clinical area, service.

You will also develop your managerial skills by supporting your colleagues via appraisals, monitoring their well being and encouraging their ongoing education and competencies.
