The Specialist Neuro rehabilitation unit is a regional unit (NRU) at Royal Preston hospital. You would be welcomed into a fantastic, established, multi-disciplinary team within the NRU and Royal Preston Hospital - follow us @NRU_LTHTR

Main duties of the job

At the NRU you would complete your timetabled sessions starting with handover and then cracking on with the rest of your day, this could be anything from personal care to support improved independence physically progressing the good work done by out physio colleagues or supporting cognition. You might jump to assessing kitchen activities making a bacon butty to supporting behaviour management alongside the psychology team. Your afternoon could be neuro splinting, complex patient meetings, setting patient orientated SMART goals or anything in between.

We are an integrated friendly and supportive team, so you'll be spending loads of your time with physios, therapy assistants, speech and language therapists and psychologists. Our therapy assistants are the perfect people to continue any programmes you have put into place. No two days are the same and joint working is encouraged and supported.

We have a comprehensive core therapy cognitive and perceptual training programme alongside trust training and therapeutic moving and handling, where there is always time for a laugh whilst building on your specialist handling skills. We have regular supervision, and In-service training. In addition to this we have regular social events, it really is a great place to work, We have recently been told " I have never worked in such a supportive team".

The Acute NRU is a Specialist Regional unit providing assessment and rehabilitation following neurological trauma, surgery or disease within Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are an integrated team of OT and physio working closely with the wider MDT to promote integrated assessment, diagnostics and rehabilitation provision. We work in partnership with our acute and community colleagues to provide high quality, seamless service for our patients.
