Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, professional and organised housekeeper to join the Maternity Ward Team
The role of housekeeper is fundamental to the safe, efficient operation and organisation of the ward environment. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team under direct supervision of the ward managers and midwives.
The successful individual will be expected to support the maternity wards by undertaking a range of activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Duties will also include ordering, infection prevention control responsibilities, clerical tasks and planning and ordering patient menus and specialist dietary requirements and supporting women and families using the service.
The post holder will be required to work with the procurement team to maintain unit stock levels and ensure that stock levels are set to ensure availability of all required stock items.

Main duties of the job
This role is essentially housekeeping, to support the productive operation of the maternity ward by undertaking a range of activities which contribute to the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, including maintenance of the clinical environment, control of infection with some clerical duties.
Maintaining unit stock levels and ensuring that stock levels are set to ensure availability of all required stock items, but that there is not an over stock of any items. Providing refreshments to patients throughout the day. and ensuring efficient management of meal service.
