We require a flexible, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Orthotic Services team, who will play a key role in the delivery of high quality treatment and care to patients.
Preston SMRC (Specialist Mobility & Rehabilitation Centre) is the North West's Enhanced War Veteran Prosthetic Rehabilitation Centre - one of only 9 Centres chosen in England. At the SMRC we are totally focused on 'Quality of Care' and are proud to be long term, established recipients of the Customer Service Excellence Award (previously Charter Mark). We are also accredited to the ISO-9001:2015 quality standard.
The purpose-built, bespoke facilities at the centre include a full clinical suite required for examination and treatment of patients. The SMRC also has a fully equipped specialist rehabilitation exercise area.
As a band 5 Orthotist, you will be clinically responsible for the provision of treatment of patients under the supervision of Senior Orthotists and will always work within professional and Trust policies and guidelines on the basis of informed consent. You will ensure the best orthotic treatment outcome for patients, provided within agreed resources.
Main duties of the job
You will be providing clinical, scientific and advisory services to patients for their health and well-being by maintaining / improving mobility, optimising function and limiting pain or deformity resulting from a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions - such as diabetes, a wide range of neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal conditions to patients of all ages.
You will undertake detailed assessments in conjunction with the Centre's Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to enable personalised care plans, facilitating provision of clinically suitable orthoses for patients referred into the service from a wide variety of specialists, G.P.s and other AHPs.
You will carry out clinical examination and evaluation of patients' orthotic needs andformulate design (prescription) of prostheses, selecting materials and components.
In your role, you'll work closely with manufacturers and the administration team in order to ensure an excellent patient experience.

- Current Relevant HCPC Registration

- Experience and knowledge of current orthotic practice including interactions between Allied Health Professionals Medical Consultants in Rehabilitation and other referrers into the service.
