Job summary

We are a 22 bedded high quality specialised area which takes elective and emergency Plastic Surgery cases. As specialists in Plastics Surgery you will learn a vast amount about complex wound management in wounds such as burns, traumatic injuries and animal/human bites. This is alongside the care of our elective Plastic surgery operations such as breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty and skin grafting. As a Ward 4 Nurse you will be caring for patient's pre and post-operatively as well as ICU step downs

We welcome experienced and newly qualified applications and even if you don't have any Plastic surgery experience, then do not worry as we have our own specialist nurses & a clinical educator who can teach you everything you will need to know. We are more interested in what you can bring to our team such as experience, attributes, behaviour & your wider nursing skills.

As well as our specialist nurses you will also meet many members of staff from the wider Multi-disciplinary team such as the Physiotherapists/OT, Dieticians, Pain team, who all play an important role to support you and our patients throughout their stay and after their discharge.

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent communication skills, be forward thinking and well organised, with a positive attitude. Your role will be to work as part of an amazing team providing patient centred, clinically effective, safe and compassionate care, which will ensure the patients have a positive experience. Within your role you will be supported in training with managing complex wounds including trauma and burn injuries.

If you are newly qualified, don't worry, you will not be thrown in the deep end as you will be enlisted onto the trusts amazing preceptorship and mentorship course, alongside a supernumerary period, which will give you all the nursing skills required to become the best nurse you can and an all-round super-star.   • RN1, RN2 General Nursing Posts
  • RN8 or RNC Children's Nursing Posts
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 18 months commencement in post
  • Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses

  • Degree
