Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our fantastic Imaging team as a Higher Level Imaging Assistant.

You will work in the ultrasound department with colleagues to provide the best possible patient care, ensuring equipment is available and maintaining accurate patient records in line with information governance. You will be expected to organize workflow for the area you are working in and assist in minor procedures.

You must be a caring person with empathy for your patients and an understanding of their needs and concerns. You will work along side doctors, advanced practitioners, and other radiographers to support them in examinations and procedures. This is a clinical role which is key to the smooth running of the department. You will be an effective communicator and be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the department.

This role will be predominantly based in the ultrasound Dept at the Sharoe Green Unit and at our offsite scan rooms (currently Preston Healthport). There will potentially be some occasional requirements to work at Chorley District Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post duties are varied and challenging and include providing support to patients, Consultants, Radiographers, Sonographers and other team members in the Imaging Department before, during and after examinations. Full training will be given for this post, but a genuine desire to work within a team providing a high quality of patient care is essential.

You will be be flexible in your attitude to work as there is a requirement to work out of hours, at weekends and Bank holidays. This post is advertised as full time although we would consider part time working. Weekend working will be a regular part of the job plan. Working after 8pm is not required in this role.

You should hold an NVQ level 2 in Health care (or equivalent) as this is an essential qualification for the role.

Essential

  • GCSE in English and Mathematics - grade C/4 or above OR Level 2 Functional Literacy & Level 2 numeracy skills
  • NVQ Level 2 Care (to work towards level 3 within 18 months of start date)

Desirable

  • Basic IT skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in care.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate Health & Safety awareness
  • Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role of a band 3 assistant.
