Job summary

Leyland ward is an outstanding elective 15 bedded Orthopaedic area which provides elective surgery for planned joint replacements and spinal procedures/surgery.

We have a brilliant forward thinking team, who will all welcome and support you, including a fabulous Enhanced Recovery Practitioner who has supported the team in achieving discharging patients who have had total knee or hip replacement surgery and in some instances support discharges on the same day. Leyland ward is the first unit in the region to have accomplished this to which the team are very proud.

Main duties of the job

There is a wider multi-disciplinary team with a strong and supportive presence on the ward incorporating Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and Enhanced Recovery Nurse who are always happy to share their knowledge to enable you to build on yours.

The supportive nature of the team as a whole shows in our excellent appraisal and friends and family feedback, and is reflected in our recent achievement of maintaining Gold Star in our STAR Accreditation Audit.

We are very proud of our recent elective surgical hub status at Chorley Hospital where we provide excellent care with compassion to all our patients and wider service users.
