Job summary

Are you ready to really make a difference in children's and family's lives? Lancashire Teaching Hospitals proudly hosts the regional neuromuscular team. A truly integrated multidisciplinary team, dedicated to providing a bespoke service to families across Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are looking for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic, adaptable and creative to join our friendly and welcoming team. You will have the opportunity to develop this service and put your own stamp on the way Occupational Therapy is provided within this specialist service.

Main duties of the job

The team is led by a Consultant Neurologist who is passionate and values the input of allied health professionals. You will work alongside specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists, Psychologist and Orthotists to provide a truly holistic service to children with a neuromuscular diagnoses. Liaising with community therapists is key. Your day will be varied, clinics run in Preston (at Royal Preston Hospital) and Blackburn (Livesey Children's Centre). You will work in the clinics alongside the MDT to provide a specialist neuromuscular and neurodevelopmental assessment (both standardised and non-standardised) alongside therapeutic intervention. This will include children of all ages, ensuring holistic care with regards to consideration of their physical, mental health and social needs. You will work autonomously and innovatively to meet the goals of children and families. Experience in working with children and families is essential

  • oOccupational Therapy degree/diploma
  • oEvidence of CPD in paediatrics

Desirable

  • Practice Placement Educator
  • Member of RCOT
  • Masters qualification or working towards

  • oEvidence of working in NHS as an OT
  • oPrevious varied paediatric experience
  • oCurrent knowledge of evidence based practice in paediatrics
  • Management of complex paediatric cases
