Job summary

We are responsible for the lifelong care of over 750 kidney transplant patients. You will work as part of the renal transplant Specialist Nurse team, in the delivery of the transplantation service across Lancashire & South Cumbria. Your role will ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion.

You will support the band 7 ensuring the transplant nursing team and admin support team are adequately resourced, supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework. You will be a visible and strong role model providing care and leadership to our patients and their families. You will have various research and development opportunities, provided with clinical supervision and support to enable you to reach your full potential.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion the Specialist Nurse is responsible for:

  • Supporting and developing yourself and the team to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.
  • Supporting patients and their families during the transplant process by being a caring, professional and knowledgeable role model providing leadership and direction, capitalising on research and development opportunities, providing clinical advice for staff and students in order to support them in reaching their full potential
  • Supporting the Band 7 to ensuring the productive operation of the team through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment and by using processes designed to increase the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients
