Job summary

These are challenging, yet exciting times for our hospitals as we move forward into the new collaborative NHS world in which our roles and relationships will take greater prominence as the entire NHS recovers from the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. What won't change, however, is our vision to always provide excellent care with compassion to our communities. Our ambition, success, identity and values remain so important in recruiting and retaining the best staff as well as developing and delivering excellent services.

We are looking for proactive and motivated individuals who enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment to support the Ear, Nose and Throat Service as a Junior Clinical Fellow, working full time across two hospital sites at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital. You will be part of a multi professional team helping to improve our patients experience and reduce our waiting lists for treatment.

Main duties of the job

The ENT unit provides a high quality modern service to all patients. A full range of ENT Services are provided including Paediatric and Adult Audiology, Otology, Rhinology, Head and Neck Oncology, Rapid Neck Access Neck Lump and general ENT. The team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care at all times with minimal waiting times and where possible within a 'one-stop' visit to reduce the number of times a patient has to attend hospital. You will support the further development of ENT Services and fulfil a service-driven role, working primarily on the ward to support elective and non-elective activity.

Inpatient work is undertaken on the Royal Preston Hospital site with elective day cases and outpatient services being undertaken at both the Chorley and South Ribble and Royal Preston Hospitals.

The department works in collaboration with Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Trust to provide an on-call rota. Due to the facilities of having a RMO service to cover the night on-call, there are no nights on-call to be covered

ENT uses Inpatient beds in the following areas:-

  • Ward 3 - Adults
  • Ward 8 - Paediatrics
  • Day Case Unit - on both sites
