Main duties of the job

It's fair to say this job is varied and will keep you on your toes!

You'll provide a multi-faceted administrative service, engaging with patients, clinicians, AHP's & Healthcare Scientist colleagues, ensuring the the highest standard of customer care.

You'll receive patients & visitors to the Centre and satellite clinics in a polite & professional manner.

You'll triage referrals efficiently, within agreed guidance/protocols obtaining additional information where necessary and updating IT systems in the process. After which, you'll deal swiftly & efficiently with information provided (simple to highly complex) in order that the correct mobility equipment is procured/manufactured.

You'll also participate in a range of audits and continuous improvement programmes, to ensure our service standards and supplier performance continue at a high quality level.

About us

Preston SMRC is the North West Enhanced War Veteran Centre - one of only 9 Centres chosen in England.

At the SMRC we are totally focused on 'Quality of Care' and are proud to be long term, established recipients of Customer Service Excellence (previously Charter Mark) and also ISO-9001:2008 accredited.

Facilities include full clinical suites required for examination and treatment including fitting rooms, medical consulting rooms, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, casting rooms, interview rooms, individual peadiatric rooms, separate upper and lower limb rooms, cast rectification, lamination, workshop, machine room, administration office and store room. The SMRC also has a fully equipped specialist exercise area. The unit is fully supported by the Royal Preston Hospital and the comprehensive outpatient service such as Pharmacy and Radiology.

The department supports a full multidisciplinary team including Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Specialist Physiotherapists, Specialist Occupational Therapists, Senior Sisters, Assistant Practitioners, Senior Health Care Assistants, Psychologist, Physical Training Instructors, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Technicians and Rehabilitation Engineers.

There are close links with the Department of Vascular Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Radiology and Diabetology in Royal Preston Hospital

The centre benefits from an on-site staff car park and a catering facility.
