Job summary

Our Maternity Services Digital Team are looking for an enthusiastic and driven midwife with IT related experience to join the team as either a 12 month secondment opportunity or a 12 month fixed term with a view to appointment into a Band 6 midwife post at the end of the fixed term.

The role of IT midwife will be to ensure the IT system fully supports all aspects of the maternity pathway and to support the development of the maternity IT system.

You will contribute to the management of the maternity digital system including managing incidents, problem solving and change management. You will support the development of the system including any upgrades or bespoke requirements and will plan and monitor performance against a programme of work.

Main duties of the job

You will produce accurate and timely reports providing information, analysis and interpretation for both individual and whole department projects to inform internal and external stakeholders of current performance against targets, you will need to be adaptable to requests for various analyses of performance and reporting solutions, relevant to the needs of the maternity services.

You will support clinical and administrative staff across the maternity service and the Trust to ensure standardisation of data entry. You will work collaboratively with the IT training department to train staff in the use of the maternity specific digital records system.

You will ensure safe clinical midwifery practice occurs and ensure any new solution delivers the clinical record to the highest possible standard working to tight deadlines.

The role requires a very high level of concentration daily and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

  • Undertaken basic qualifications in the use of computer packages such as the European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or Word, PowerPoint and excel software
  • Leadership qualification or experience
  • Teaching experience or qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with healthcare administration IT systems
  • Service development experience, delivering clinical quality improvements and successful service change.
  • Recent Band 6 experience of clinical practice

Desirable

  • Multidisciplinary working
  • Proven experience of working in an environment with a range of IT infrastructures and Microsoft technologies
  • Good understanding of digital systems and advances to develop and manage electronic patient records
