Lancashire and South Cumbria Pathology are looking for an individual to work with the digital Pathology team for 12-months and introduce digital pathology across the proposed network.

It will involve working with technical, clinical and IT staff to develop a business case for full implementation of digital pathology, by the end of the pilot.

Main duties of the job

You will manage the digital pathology project, ensuring all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the objectives, timescales and their responsibilities such that the required outcomes are achieved, through using PRINCE and other Project Management methodologies as appropriate.

You will be responsible for the development of the current and future state analysis and the development of the project timeline in line with the overarching programme deliverables.

About us

You will be joining a new way of delivering the service as the four pathology departments across Lancashire and South Cumbria (LSC) are working together as a Single service. This service will be responsible for the delivery of diagnostic pathology services to a population of over 1.7 million people. In order to deliver this service there will be investment in key digital systems in order to improve the efficiency and safety for the patients of the LSC area.A new laboratory information system (LIS) is being purchased to replace the four existing systems and a digital pathology solution will be procured and implemented alongside the LIS. Digital pathology is an exciting development that will enable LSC Pathology to change working practices, and most importantly improve the reporting times of critical cancer diagnoses.As Digital Project Manager you will be led by the Senior Digital Lead for the service and report into the Programme Manager. Ensure project teams are able to take-on and complete delegated tasks, ensuring effective project administration, co-ordination, communication and control. Act as the main contact with suppliers, contractors and other interested Health Organisations. Work with IT Training Manager to initiate relevant training programmes across the organisation (when required).

Assess business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans. Log and deal with the resolution of issues and to help overcome barriers that may affect progress.The Network intends to become an organisation that offers excellence in digital clinical science for the population of the Lancashire and South Cumbria region. Working in collaboration with NHS organisations and commercial partners our intention is to be recognised as a leading provider of digital pathology services.

  • oPrince 2 practitioner or Agile qualification.
