Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and values-driven leader to join our Nursing Leadership Team as Quality Matron for our two male Adults of Working Age inpatient wards at Atherleigh Park.

This post is offered at 0.5 WTE, working Monday to Wednesday, providing an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a senior leadership role with a flexible working pattern.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the wider Senior Leadership Team to ensure our services are safe, timely, clinically effective and person-centred, enabling patients, service users and families to receive the highest standard of care.

As Quality Matron, you will provide visible, compassionate nursing leadership and champion a culture of continuous improvement. You will embed robust clinical governance processes, supporting teams to consistently meet standards across quality, patient safety, safeguarding, physical healthcare, and infection prevention and control (IPC).

You will role-model professional excellence and contribute to a culture where staff feel psychologically safe, supported and empowered to learn, helping to create a just and learning-focused environment.

Main duties of the job

  1. To ensure high standards of care delivery are consistently delivered, monitoring clinical outcomes and effectiveness of service delivery
  2. To ensure clinical practice and development is in line with evidenced best practice
  3. To be responsible for auditing clinical practice and clinical policy compliance
  4. To monitor and promote development of practitioner clinical skills, knowledge and competency
  5. To be responsible for achievement, maintenance and monitoring of environmental standards.
  6. To ensure the clinical environment is conducive to promote service users health, safety and recovery and adherence to all clinical policies and protocols is evident. This will incorporate the safe management of medicines.
  7. To support the delivery of high quality, clinically safe service and make the best use of resources.
  8. To support clinical practice development and ensure that the fundamentals of care are right and that clinical innovations are rolled out in a timely and managed way.
  9. To support and Lead on Quality Improvement and Service Transformation
