Please note: This role is not fully remote. The successful candidate will be required to work from the Prestwich office for a minimum of 50% of their working week.
This role is critical in supporting the organisation's data infrastructure, enabling high-quality reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
Working closely with clinical, operational, IT, and Business Intelligence colleagues, the post holder will play a leading role in the design, development, and optimisation of high-quality Power BI data models. A strong understanding of data modelling, particularly dimensional modelling principles, is essential, as these models will underpin analytical reporting and the ongoing development of the Trust's data warehouse.
The post holder will ensure that data models and reporting solutions are robust, scalable, and performant, meeting current needs while remaining adaptable to future requirements. They will help develop trusted data structures that support consistent metrics and reliable insight across the Trust.
This role requires a strong understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and business intelligence tooling, alongside a commitment to data quality, security, and information governance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Trust's digital transformation and strategic objectives through well-designed, sustainable data solutions.

Main duties of the job
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of high-quality Power BI data models, underpinned by robust dimensional modelling principles to support accurate and consistent reporting.
- Support the development, maintenance, and optimisation of the Trust's data warehouse and associated data platforms, ensuring solutions are scalable, performant, and fit for purpose.
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple clinical and operational source systems into trusted analytical datasets.
- Work collaboratively with clinical, operational, IT, and BI colleagues to translate reporting and analytical requirements into effective data models and datasets.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across reporting solutions through validation processes, monitoring, and resolution of data issues.
- Support statutory, regulatory, and national reporting requirements by ensuring datasets and models are accurate, auditable, and compliant with information governance standards.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities to improve data warehouse structures, Power BI semantic models, and reporting performance using best-practice design.
- Operate within agreed development, change, and release management frameworks to deliver secure, well-documented, and maintainable data solutions.
