Job summary
We are excited to invite applicants to join our well established, integrated mental health and substance misuse team at HMP Hindley, in Wigan.
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will be required to assess service users and will be responsible for managing a caseload of service users/patients within HMP Hindley. The post holder is required to work with service users from a holistic perspective, taking into account mental health needs. You will have the support of the team, and the wider multidisciplinary team within the prison.
The successful applicant will be part of GMMHs Health and Justice Network, which offers wider opportunities for training and experiences.
This post is based within HMP Hindley, a category C resettlement prison housing men from aged 18 upwards.
Although challenging at times, the role is very varied and interesting. We are looking to recruit individuals who are resilient, enthusiastic and motivated. The post is suitable for newly qualified nurses, as full training, preceptorship programmes and support will be provided.
Main duties of the job
To provide a safe and accurate, full comprehensive assessment of service users/patients treatment needs in collaboration with healthcare and HMPPS staff.
To safely and effectively carry out appropriate clinical and prison ACCT risk assessment regarding the service users/patients drug treatment and mental health issues thereby implementing appropriate interventions to manage the risks.
To make recommendations and identify the service users/ patient's treatment needs in developing their integrated care plan.
To administer and supervise the consumption of controlled drug medication as prescribed to service users/patients of the service in line with the service / Prison Protocols when required.
To monitor progress, both in the short and longer term, of those in treatment in line with service protocols.
To safely and effectively manage the treatment plans of patients.
To demonstrate an understanding of the diverse needs of BME groups.
To promote clinical governance by complying with agreed Trust, statutory policies and clinical guidance, while maintaining own clinical competencies in this role.
