Job summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated psychologist/Therapist to join the Manchester Eating Disorders Service and provide strategic clinical leadership.

As clinical lead, you will be responsible for provision of senior psychology input and leading the service delivery of psychological care pathways for people with eating disorders.

You will join a dedicated and person centred service with a diverse MDT consisting of:

  • Clinical and Counselling Psychologists
  • Dietitians
  • CBT Therapists
  • Support Worker
  • Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Mental health Practitioners
  • Specialist doctors

There is a wealth of clinical expertise across a range of psychological approaches including CAT, CBT-E, CBT-T, CFT, GSH, EMDR, and MANTRA along with our specialised early intervention eating disorders pathway FREED

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Offer assessment and therapy to the more complex service users presenting to the service utilising evidence-based models for the treatment of eating disorders.
  • Provide clinical supervision and maintain oversight staff working in the service.
  • To be responsible for the clinical supervision and teaching of trainees at all levels, including those taking advanced and highly specialist psychotherapy training and post graduate training in clinical psychology.
  • To engage in peer supervision and peer consultation with clinical colleagues within the service.
  • Ensure that psychological aspects of Manchester Eating Disorders service provision continue to be maintained at the highest possible standards, ensuring people who use the service and their carers/families receive high quality care.

Essential

  • A recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, medicine, social work and occupational therapy with additional registration with HCPC or other appropriate professional body
  • Training in evidence based psychological therapies for Eating Disorders
  • Registration with HCPC or other appropriate professional body

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a psychological therapist demonstrating competencies required for Band 8b.
  • Experience of clinical leadership and leading a service.
  • Experience of working therapeutically with people with Eating Disorders.
  • Experience in risk assessment, formulation and management particularly important.
  • Previous experience of delivering time-limited psychological therapy to clients with complex mental health problems.

  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working with Commissioners and senior operational managers.
