Job summary
The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Trafford North CMHT. This replaces a vacancy. The post holder will be expected to have Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status. They will be expected to lead the clinical team, provide clinical input and contribute to service development activities.

Main duties of the job
Clinical role
Undertake assessments of referrals/admissions to the service
Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations
Attend for Mental Health Act assessments of patients under the team
Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others
Be the responsible clinician for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) and carry out duties in accordance with the code of practice
Renew and maintain Responsible Clinician status according to agreed procedures
Request and carry out Mental Health Act Assessments for patients under the team
Complete reports for Mental Health Tribunals, attend Mental Health Tribunals or supervise other members of the medical teams in Tribunal work
Provide Medical leadership for MDT meetings and Zoning meetings
Communicate and work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including inpatient units and other community teams and external partners
Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists.
