Job summary

A vacancy has arisen, for a keen and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Older Adult Community Mental Health team. We are looking for Occupational Therapists who have existing experience as a Band 5 and are looking to develop their knowledge, skills and experience, in a supportive environment, with a strong and clear Occupational Therapy ethos. We also welcome applicants who are already practicing at Band 6 level but are looking for something new and exciting.

You will join the Occupational Therapists, within a well-established multi-disciplinary Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), based at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre in Salford.

We welcome applicants with diverse, innovative and creative ideas, which would support the continued development of this service. We are keen to support your commitment to professional development, through 1-1 support, peer support, local, divisional and Trust wide CPD and training.

The post holder will hold a caseload of service users who's needs are around Occupational identity, performance and participation. They will provide assessment and intervention aimed at improving these areas in order for the service users to live the lives they want and need. The post holder will be the named care coordinator for identified clients. The post holder will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and duty on a rota basis.

Main duties of the job

To be a key part of the occupational therapy team within Salford Older Adult CMHT, providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention for older adults who present with organic and functional mental health problems.

To act as a Care Coordinator and fulfil the requirements of this role.

To support a caseload of older adults with mental health problems, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and record interventions.

To provide support, assistance, and advice to carers of older adults with mental health problems.

To maintain occupational therapy service standards and contribute to the development of the Trust occupational therapy service as a whole.

To support the Senior Practitioner for Occupational Therapy in the planning, delivery, development, and evaluation of the occupational therapy service within Salford Older Adult CMHT.

To provide an occupational therapy perspective in the area of older adult mental health to the MDT, Social Services, and other organisations.

To contribute within the wider MDT in the development of clear care pathways regarding support, care and treatment of older adults with mental health problems.

To undertake the role of Clinical Educator for occupational therapy students on fieldwork placements.

To support and supervise other Occupational Therapists across the service.

To act as a duty worker on a rota basis.

To work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
