An opportunity has arisen to join an award winning prison based mental health and wellbeing service. HMP Buckley Hall MHT is recognised nationally for it's creative and innovative approach to intervention. We specialise in a holistic relational model of care emphasising the social and group aspect of recovery and growth.
The service prides itself on its co-production and inclusivity values. The team is completely integrated and includes psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, therapists, wellbeing practitioner, complimentary therapists and service user/peer mentors.

Main duties of the job
Essentially we look to model the prison on the wider community. We hope to replicate many of the functions of a CMHT within the setting. Therefore good risk assessment skills are essential. You will need to liaise with a variety of disciplines within the prison to manage typically traumatised and often complex individuals that do not fit easily into the stepped care model. You will be expected to hold a case load of men that will need to have comprehensive care plans and risk management strategies. The nature of the population and the nature of the interventions we offer means that experience in working in CAMHS/Children's homes, addiction & recovery services, housing and social care, education and community services can be more valuable than forensic or inpatient settings. We promote the use of social prescribing groups, pro-social modelling and other non-clinical interventions to improve outcomes. Therefore many of our service users are managed across disciplines and you will be expected to input into the care of all that access the service, to offer leadership and guidance to more junior colleagues as well as insight into managing risk and improved outcomes within the wider MDT.

Treatment is shaped through needs-driven assessments, personalised care planning, and comprehensive risk management tailored to the prison population.
The team operates through a genuinely collaborative, multidisciplinary, and multiagency model, aiming to reduce distress while promoting autonomy, partnership, and recovery.
The postholder will work closely with colleagues to support the Trusts commitment to providing consistent care and support for individuals with mental health needs in custody.
