Job summary
To manage a defined caseload of service users with complex physical and mental health needs under the supervision of a Senior Occupational Therapist.
To provide specialist assessment and intervention to support the recovery of service users alongside the multidisciplinary team.
We are developing rotational opportunities within GMMH, this post may be considered Rotation if it is part of the candidates continuing professional development and career prospects. Rotations will include male and female acute inpatients, later life services, and community settings.
Main duties of the job
To provide Occupational Therapy input for service users on the ward that will support recovery and enable discharge, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
To manage daily a caseload of clients with acute and complex mental health and social care needs, using client centred and evidence based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and document these in accordance with local and national standards and guidance.
To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy services within the in-patient unit.
To assist with the direction, supervision and support of Inpatient AHP support workers and the training of Occupational Therapy Students and apprentices as required.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of the Trust AHP service. To develop skills and knowledge through participation in Professional Development planning to meet the competency framework.
To abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice.
To work across the AMHP 4 Pillars of Practice - Clinical Practice, Leadership, Education and Research.
To apply person centred principles and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions.
To carry out interventions in hospital and in the community including home visits.
