Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for promoting awareness and high standards of health, safety and security management for all the Trust's employees in addition to undertaking inspections, audits and risk assessments to ensure a safe environment for staff, patients, visitors and members of the public. To undertake effective health, safety and security management advisory and assurance work to ensure safe operation within the physical environment in which healthcare is delivered.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing Health and Safety advice and support to all levels of staff,
  • Undertaking risk assessments, site inspections, other audits and completion of
  • detailed reports for sites visited,
  • Ensuring that identified issues are communicated to the appropriate manager or duty holder,
  • To undertake reporting and investigations into RIDDOR or other relevant incidents,
  • Undertake the production of accurate data and reports on trends, themes and levels of compliance,
  • Action and respond to safety alerts,
  • Participate in the delivery of training to Trust staff.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • A qualification or advanced training course in risk management or resilience (emergency planning)
  • A teaching qualification equivalent to postgraduate/diploma level (i.e Cert Ed)
  • Leadership qualification ILM Level 3 or above

Experience

  • Experience of working within a Health and Safety, Security Management and/or Risk Management role
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining databases/spread sheets
  • Knowledge and experience of using InPhase/DATIX Risk Management System
