Clinical Team Manager - MHTAS/MHUT

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Team Manager at Greater Manchester Mental Health Tactical Advice Service (GM MHTAS).

GM MHTAS is a triage service and practitioners are currently based in the Greater Manchester Police Force Headquarters. They provide real time clinical advice to police personnel who are on scene with members of the public experiencing mental health crisis. GM MHTAS also provides clinical advice to custody staff.

The post holder will support the Senior Mental Health Practitioners on duty to ensure that mental health vulnerability is considered, triaged and high quality information and clinical advice is provided when an individual comes in contact with, or to the attention of Greater Manchester Police.

The post holder will support the Operational Manager in carrying continuing professional and managerial responsibility for the clinical team, contributing to the maintenance of the overall service standards.

GM MHTAS is currently going through consultation and will soon be part of the GM Mental Health Urgent Triage Team (MHUT) based at Middlebrook in Bolton. MHUT is an expanding urgent care service across the Greater Manchester footprint. This can be discussed in more detail at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide effective leadership to the designated team.
  • Participate in and provide regular clinical supervision as per Trust policy.
  • Complete IPDR's with designated team as per trust policy.
  • Deputise for and represent the Operational Manager when required.
  • Implement workload supervision to monitor the standards of service user care and professional advice delivered.
  • Work with local services to enhance pathways, seeking opportunity when clinically appropriate to reduce the demand on emergency services and improve the experience of the service user.
  • Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with services

    o Ensure record keeping is in accordance with Professional and Trust standards by completing regular clinical audits with the team.

    o Participate and take a lead in promoting positive interagency working.
  • Manage the Health Roster for 24 hour shift pattern.
  • Ensure a safe space for the team during regular staff meeting and case reviews.
  • Undertake a senior practitioner role as required within the service to maintain direct assessment and care skills/working knowledge of the service.
  • Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate.
  • Take a lead in the recruitment and selection and induction processes in accordance with all three Trust policies
  • Proactively support the formulation and implementation of clinical and operational practices, and procedures as appropriate.
