Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologists to join the Specialist Inpatient CAMHS team. You will be joining a well-established team who strive to deliver an excellent standard of care to young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
The post holder will support & enhance the psychological care of young people within the service, providing psychological assessment & psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
The role offers a valuable opportunity for people with a degree in psychology, plus relevant experience, to further progress their career. The post is highly suitable for candidates who aspire to future training in clinical psychology and other psychological therapy professions. We have good links with the local Doctoral Training Courses & offer placements to Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of service users applying neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service user's care.
- To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a service user's difficulties, including offering individual psychological therapies.
- To assist in the co-ordination and running of therapeutic groups.
- To communicate and liaise with staff from other disciplines.
- To assist in the delivery of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service.
- To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
- To prepare reports on clinical interventions with individuals and groups, the results of psychometric assessments, case note reviews and research/audit projects. Such reports may be written for, or read by, service users, psychologists, members of the multi-disciplinary team, or staff from external agencies.
- To disseminate research and service evaluation findings through presentations or published articles where appropriate.
- To receive regular clinical and professional supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines and undertake personal training relevant to the post in agreement with the supervising psychologist and the manager.
