Head of Quality Improvement

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Quality Improvement to join the Professions and Quality department within Greater Manchester Mental Health.

If you are passionate about and have extensive experience in, quality improvement at a senior leadership level and executing strategies for continuous improvement in patient care and experience, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities include leading on the delivery and development of the key workstreams within the Quality Improvement Programme:

  • Quality Improvement projects.

  • Building capability across the organisation.

  • Strategic deployment activities.

  • The post holder will operationally line manage the Quality Improvement (QI) team

The post holder will also lead on the development and delivery of Breakthrough Objectives and organisational Strategic Initiatives.

The Head of Quality Improvement will provide improvement expertise to the organisation, supporting the development and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient programmes to drive continuous improvements.

This post is also responsible for a broad portfolio of improvement activities and improvement projects, including creating an organisation wide culture in which all staff view quality improvement as a core part of their role.

The postholder will have a passion and drive for building the culture, conditions, and capability for continuous improvement.

  • Degree in health / social care, improvement, change management subject or similar applicable subject matter.
  • QI qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience of project and programme management techniques and tools

Experience

  • Experience of project and programme management techniques and tools
  • Proven experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment
  • Detailed understanding of all aspects Improvement Science o Improvement Methods such as Improvement Kata Model for Improvement, Lean, collaborative models, PDSA and process mapping
  • Experience and/or understanding of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment.
  • Experience of leading and managing change effectively including guiding others to cope with operating in an agile, changing environment and dealing with opposition to change.
  • Extensive experience of involvement in front line delivery of multiple quality improvement programmes and initiatives.
  • Teaching teams and groups in a classroom style environment
  • Significant experience presenting quality improvement metrics and progress to large groups of customers using appropriate media.

Desirable

  • Experience of successful organizational change management in a complex environment , preferably in a health or care setting
  • Considerable experience of running collaboratives to support improvement
