Support Time and Recovery Worker

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and compassionate Support Time and Recovery Worker (STR) to work within the South Mersey Community Mental Health Team.

As an STR, you will work directly with service users and their carers to support and empower them to engage in their recovery/maintain independence. You will establish therapeutic relationships to address goals to help service users access a range of resources and services to connect with the local community.

The South Mersey Community Mental Health Team works across the borough, supporting people who are aged between 18 and 65 who have a severe and enduring mental illness and/or unmet needs which have arisen from mental health difficulties. Work with our patients can include supporting people to access their local community, support with building confidence in activities of daily living, and supporting people to do what they want or need to do, in a goal directed way.

Working in the South Manchester Community Mental Health Team provides opportunity to work with a large Multi-Disciplinary Team of Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Psychologists, Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners, and Administrators. This provides an excellent opportunities to develop skills with support from others. You will gain skills in therapeutic, evidence based interventions, supporting people with organic, functional mental illnesses, as well as complex physical health needs.

Main duties of the job

  • To establish and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with service users and their carers.
  • To establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues within the CMHT.
  • To work under the direct supervision of Registered Social Workers, Registered OT's and Registered Nurses.
  • Develop plans to support recovery based on individual need.
  • To contribute to MDT meetings.
  • To promote and encourage independence and engagement within the local community.
  • To support the duty function of the team, by calling or visiting people already under our care, and supporting with some clinical tasks, such as supporting the team manager with allocations
