Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Wigan for a Deputy Safeguarding Lead (Band 7) to join the Wigan Senior Leadership Team (SLT), working alongside our Divisional Safeguarding Lead.
The post holder will providespecialist, complex and sensitive advice to staff across the Wigan division, including our inpatient and community mental health services, in regard to Safeguarding Adults and Children.
This role is perfect for a practitioner who has a genuine interest in safeguarding and building connections with local teams and services. Leading with a positive and helpful attitude, this role is a leadership position to support upskilling our staff and offering safeguarding advice, guidance and direction to staff across the Wigan division. This role does not involve any caseloading responsibilities.
You will be supported with regular line management and clinical supervision. You will receive a full induction when starting in post, and will be given the opportunity to discuss any development needs and aspirations in the post.
This post is a full time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. The role is based at Atherleigh Park, although travel across the Wigan and Leigh footprint will be required. Flexible working hours/options can be considered.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for providing specialist Safeguarding advice, guidance and direction to staff across the Wigan division. This will include receiving highly complex and sensitive information, interpretation of this information to advice on the best course of action and recommendations for staff, signposting if necessary.
- To be responsible for the reviewing and investigation of Safeguarding incidents reported via the Trust Incident Management System.

To be responsible for service development to ensure the welfare of vulnerable adults, whilst having a 'Think Family' approach to the Safeguarding Adults agenda.
- To support Wigan's safeguarding lead to ensure that the division contributes to multi-agency safeguarding work alongside specialist safeguarding professionals from other organisations and bodies, including Adult's social care, education and health, and in the planning and strategies for safeguarding.
