Job summary

Are you passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion? Do you have proven experience in developing an ED&I focussed culture and creating working environments where all colleagues can thrive? Are you keen to focus on removing any barriers to care for a diverse range of patients requiring support for their mental health or learning disability?

If yes, then this role gives you an exciting opportunity to join our progressive organisation here at Greater Manchester Mental Health. With our own Non-Exec Director chaired ED&I Committee reporting into Trust board, you will have scope to influence this incredibly impactful agenda to the full. This post, reporting to the Associate Director of Workforce Transformation and therefore "housed" within our HR and OD team, will work to improve the experience and access of people both employed in our services and accessing our services as service users. You will work with stakeholders internally and externally to identify and implement changes to make a real difference to the lived experiences of our workforce and service users and help achieve our strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job

To take a lead role in the oversight and implementation of the Trust's Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, providing leadership and influence across the organisation in meeting our statutory public sector duties and promoting activities to improve service access, experience, and outcomes for all community members and ensuring equality of opportunity for existing staff and potential recruits.

The postholder will review the Trust's EDI Strategy to ensure that EDI objectives are part of the Trust's overall strategy, and service level business plans, and will ensure that all EDI activities and programmes are effective in their outputs. This will include the development of a range of information metrics which will help drive and shape the change required as part of the EDI strategy to evidence impact.

The postholder will lead and support internal staff networks and programmes and will also work closely with VCSE colleagues and public sector partners to promote the delivery of national targets as set out in the Advancing Mental Health Equalities Strategy (Sept 2020), such as the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).

The postholder will be accountable to the Chief People Officer & Deputy CEO and will work in an integrated way across operational and corporate directorates in the Trust.
