Job summary
The post is to work as a trial therapist as part of the ChUSE trial; an innovative feasibility randomised controlled trial that aims to examine the novel offer of a brief therapeutic intervention for children with distressing sensory experiences (e.g., hearing voices, seeing visions) and a parent training programme. Both the child and parent intervention are coping skills focused, rooted in principles of cognitive therapies and compassionate mind training.
The post-holder(s) for the ChUSE trial will be based in the Complex Trauma and Resilience Research Unit (C-TRU) under the leadership of Filippo Varese, GMMH NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
To provide a highly specialist psychological intervention in a CAMHS context across the three NHS Trusts in Greater Manchester, developed for the purposes of the ChUSE trial, drawing on therapeutic techniques associated with Compassionate Mind Training and cognitive therapies for children and young people. This will include specialist assessment, intervention, planning, implementation and the monitoring of outcomes.
To keep up to date with collecting and inputting therapy data and follow trial proceedings and follow trial proceedings.
To help with the advertising and recruitment of the trial.
To attend ChUSE-related meetings, research unit meetings, individual supervision, and additional therapy and professional development training required for the competent delivery of the ChUSE trial intervention
This is a unique opportunity to develop specialised treatment skills and to participate in a National Institute of Health Research funded evaluation of a new treatment for men detained in prison who are at risk of suicide.
