Job summary
Ever thought of working in the prison sector? It is an exciting, interesting and rapidly developing sector for pharmacy. Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) NHS Trust are looking for a Lead Pharmacist to oversee clinical pharmacy services within our Health and Justice sites.
Motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate will support the provision of a safe and efficient pharmacy services at several prisons in the Northwest. This will include close working with the mental health, substance misuse and primary care teams. Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to problem solve in challenging situations are required.
As well as prisons, GMMH also provides services to secure children's homes.
Ideally, the candidate will have demonstrable leadership ability to improve the management of medicines and substantial experience of working, in this healthcare setting.
Main duties of the job
As a senior member of GMMH Pharmacy Team , the post holder will line-manage senior pharmacists within the Health and Justice setting. They will be an integral member of Health and Justice management team, acting as the subject matter expert for medicines management.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of policies and procedures related to medicines management, for the Health and Justice setting. This will include partnership working with other disciplines to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance with regards the use of medicines.
In addition, the postholder will act as the Superintendent Pharmacist for any GPhC-registered pharmacies within the Health and Justice setting of GMMH.
