Job summary

Looking after our Moorside and Meadowbrook Units as a Food Production Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and effective operation of the food production department.

Your main responsibilities will include overseeing and coordinating the daily food production activities, maintaining high food quality standards, managing a team of food production staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Working closely with supportive management, this role is ideal for a person looking to grow within a team and take responsibility for the food service.

Main duties of the job

  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the food production department, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and delivery of meals according to prescribed menus and dietary requirements.
  • Manage a team of food production staff, including recruitment, training, performance management, and scheduling to maintain adequate staffing levels and ensure a productive and motivated workforce.
  • Monitor food production processes, including food storage, preparation, cooking, and serving, to ensure compliance with NHS policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality and presentation, adhering to specific dietary requirements and restrictions, as well as catering to individual patients' needs.
  • Collaborate with dieticians, nutritionists, and healthcare providers to accurately meet dietary specifications for patients with special medical or dietary needs.
  • Maintain inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure availability of required ingredients and supplies
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new food production menus, recipes, and processes that meet NHS dietary guidelines and promote healthier food options.
  • Monitor and evaluate food production systems, making recommendations for process improvements and implementing changes where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of food production activities, including production volumes, temperature logs, equipment maintenance, and staff training records

  • To ensure that quality control measures and hygiene systems are all achieved at all times.
  • To prepare, cook and present food to Patients in line with exceptional departmental standards, using fresh ingredients.
  • To participate in the HACCP procedure in accordance with the Trusts Food Safety Policy and maintain correct use of records.
  • To ensure that quality control measures and hygiene systems are always achieved.
  • To have accountability for the day-today running of the kitchen service.
  • To actively participate in the ongoing management and development of menus, in line with Trust guidance.
