Job summary
TheNHS People Planidentified that supporting the health and wellbeing of our workforce is one of the most important things we can drive forward. As part of this commitment, the best form of support for our workforce often happens within their place of employment, whether that be through supportive workplaces, compassionate line management or through dedicated locally based support services.
They will also aim to embed the 'NHS health and wellbeing framework' to support cultural change as well as building a positive health and wellbeing culture. This covers areas such as; wellbeing support, data insights, environment, managers and leaders, fulfilment at work, relationships and improving personal and professional health and wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
The staff health and wellbeing practitioner will develop health and wellbeing opportunities for staff within the Medium and Low Secure Setting. They will encourage and support staff to develop their personal sense of health and wellbeing at work.
Promoting particular health campaigns through poster displays, emailing staff, giving out leaflets and updating at any meetings you attend (e.g. World Mental Health Day, National No Smoking Day)
Organising health and wellbeing activities for AFS staff e.g. a lunchtime walk, book club or hobby group
Signposting others to relevant local health and wellbeing services
Providing information about and encouraging others to participate in health and wellbeing initiatives/challenges
Championing and promoting relevant health messages and events taking place.
Role modelling and promoting Health and wellbeing within AFS services.
Coordinate assignment of the volunteer role of Health & Wellbeing champions for each of the wards and providing support and ideas.
An enthusiasm for and interest in health and wellbeing, improving AFS and supporting engagement.
Being approachable and willing to help.
A basic understanding of healthy lifestyles, health promotion and the impact that internal and external factors can contribute to this i.e. environment, personal resilience,
Keen to keep up to date with activities within the GMMH health and wellbeing initiatives/challenges.
