Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed support workers to join our Later Life Services. Applicants must have a passion for working with Older Adults with Mental Health Issues. It is essential that you are motivated with a positive attitude; and that you are caring and patient. Our ideal candidate would have experience of caring for people with functional illnesses such as depression, schizophrenia etc, and dementia. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of our team. Our Later Life inpatient units are based at 2 sites. Cavendish Ward is a mixed gender, 20 bedded Later life ward based at Wythenshawe Hospital in South Manchester. Maple ward is a 20 bedded female ward based at North Manchester General Hospital. Both wards care for patients with Organic and Functional illnesses. We are currently looking to recruit health care support workers for Cavendish ward.

Main duties of the job

Role Summary

The successful candidate will provide support and assistance to the team, working under the guidance of Registered Nurses and other health professionals. You will provide routine care and support to people with mental health issues. You will promote and engage patients in therapeutic activity. You will promote the dignity and independence of our patients. You will ensure the safety of our patients completing safe and supportive observations.
