The Specialist Perinatal Service is a passionate, dynamic and committed team and due to internal progression, we are looking to recruit a Band 5 occupational therapist for our Mother and Baby Unit
We are one of the largest Specialist Perinatal Team in the country and pride ourselves on the expertise and compassion of our staff.
Our team works with small caseloads of women and people who are pregnant or in the post-natal period experiencing mental health difficulties, at this important time in their lives.This is a rewarding and varied role working with our colleagues across the Perinatal Pathway, including maternity, health visiting, IAPT and Infant mental health.
Main duties of the job
Work as an Occupational Therapist in the Specialist Perinatal Service, providing a service to the Andersen Unit, under the supervision of the Specialist Perinatal Lead Occupational Therapist.
The unit aims to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and support for women experiencing emotional or psychiatric difficulties. Helping mothers develop parenting skills and facilitate bonding in a homely, welcoming environment and provide a therapeutic programme that meets the needs of mothers and infants and minimises the risk of relapse or readmission.
Work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with other agencies and services, to promote recovery and social inclusion.
Manage a caseload of women in the perinatal period with complex, severe and enduring mental health needs, offering occupational therapy assessment and interventions where mental health problems have a marked impact on their occupational functioning and who have complex occupational needs.Assessments and interventions will identify barriers and support clients to achieving functional goals.
Apply person centred principles and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions in hospital and in the community including home visits.
Provide occupational therapy advice to the multi-disciplinary team.
