Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registered occupational therapist to work in a new community mental health service in Wigan called Living Well (LW). The Wigan Borough Living Well Service enables timely access to mental health services when people need it most and provides support for people who might not traditionally meet the threshold or criteria of existing mental health services. The team is multidisciplinary and includes VCFSE organizations and several peer mentor roles.

The Wigan Borough Living Well Service is compassionately led, trauma informed, and recovery focused. Living Well has co-produced key values and principles that all team members share. As a result, our model is humanistic and person-centred. Our core values are based on creating open, honest, safe spaces and conversations where all people's strengths are valued.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will carry out evidence based occupational therapy assessments and write up reports to a high standard, which highlight how biological, sociological, and psychological factors interact to create obstacles to the satisfactory participation of an individual person in valued occupational and social roles. You will develop shared plans and make recommendations to/access support from appropriate professionals and agencies or deliver occupational therapy interventions with the aim of gaining or restoring a balance of meaningful roles for the individual. You will undertake initial conversation / assessments of people as part of the LW duty system in accordance with agreed operational procedures.

You will be supported by members of the leadership team including team managers, an operational programme manager and clinical lead. You will also be supported by the Divisional lead occupational therapist who will provide clinical supervision.
