Wigan Later Life and Memory Services (LLAMS) are looking for a passionate, approachable and caring Specialty Doctor to join the team.

This is a new re-configured post and replaces the existing Specialty Doctor post covering LLAMS Services. This enables the post-holder to work at a more senior level with support from Consultant Psychiatrist and having their own case load.

The LLAMS Community Team has its base both at Claire House and Atherleigh Park Hospital. The team receives on an average, 200 to 240 referrals per month. The LLAMS Team has single point of access to referrals.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expect to;

Clinical role

  • Undertake assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service.
  • Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
  • Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations.
  • Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to

health and safety and risk of harm to others.

  • Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
  • Memory assessments - diagnosis and management.
  • Supporting Care Home Liaison Team.
