Job summary

The Wigan EDIT team (Early Detection and Intervention Team) are a small but motivated team who provide mental health care for patients at risk of developing psychosis (age 14-35) or bipolar disorder (age 14-25). We are currently based on the Frist floor at the Leigh Sports village however cover the whole of the Wigan Borough . The team also utilise a flexible working approach, mixing working from home with being based in the office and seeing patients within the community.

An opportunity has arisen to work as the team duty practitioner 3 days a week for a fixed 12 month period to cover team maternity leave. Full in house training will be provided for the successful applicant.

We are a primary care service open Monday to Friday 9-5pm and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to support and influence the care patients and their families/carers receive from mental health services.

Main duties of the job

  • Role of assessment practitioner involves managing and responding to enquires and referrals within the Early Detection and Intervention Team (EDIT- Primary care Psychology Service).
  • Carrying out initial assessments (CAARMS & SCID assessments, with another practitioner where appropriate) and responding to new referrals. If referral not suitable, facilitate passing referral onto appropriate service.
  • Monitoring staff whereabouts and management of lone working processes.
  • Dealing with any clients / carers in crisis and signposting to secondary services.
  • To participate in the assessment of people referred to the team with complex care needs, safeguarding concerns and substantial disability in context of their Mental Health Difficulties.

To participate in the operational systems and the development of EDIT.
