Healthcare Support Worker - Older Adults

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for nursing assistants to work at Woodlands Hospital. Woodlands is an Older Adults Mental Health In-patient Unit within Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust. There are 3 wards containing a total of 50 beds. We generally care for people aged 70+ who have functional mental health needs and patients of various ages with a dementia or other organic diagnosis. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated nursing assistants who have a positive attitude towards mental health and promoting recovery and we are looking for people who have a genuine interest in working with older adults.

Woodlands is supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team which includes medical staff, senior nurses, psychologists, a physical healthcare team, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech & language therapists, and dietitians. We work closely with Bolton & Salford older adult CMHTs but often support people from the wider GMMH footprint.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated individuals who have a keen interest in mental health and inpatient care,good team players and who show compassion towards others and are able to support the wider team to meet the physical and mental health needs of older adults. Ideal candidates will be dynamic and forward thinking, work effectively in a team, be able to make decisions under pressure, and have excellent communication skills. This patient group & their carer's respond well to warm, caring & enthusiastic staff, making work a rewarding & fulfilling experience.

You will be expected to work a 24 hour rotation of day and night shifts and will be required to work on all wards across the unit as the service demands.

We encourage and support personal development through managerial and clinical supervision, and access to the Trust training programmes. Staff who want to work within a close knit & nurturing team whilst continuing to develop their practices are encouraged to consider application.
