Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Sovereign Unit
Sovereign Unit is one of five wards at our state of the art, purpose built Atherleigh Park Hospital in Leigh. Sovereign Unit is a 20 bedded male acute unit providing support to adults of working age. Sovereign Unit provides assessment, treatment and support to service users within the GM footprint who may be experiencing mental health difficulties for a range of illnesses such as Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar Disorder and Depression and Anxiety.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate individuals who; have a positive attitude towards mental health and promoting recovery, have an understanding of positive behavioural support, are committed to delivering person centred & trauma informed care and want to support working age adults in their recovery.
Main duties of the job
You will have the necessary skills to lead, support and manage staff, and be visible and accessible to service users and their families. Your skills should enable you to meet the requirements of this demanding post which include balancing operational management, professional leadership, supporting your team and the active development of the service.
You will be a role model and have a clear interest in acute nursing and crisis management within mental health and patient centred recovery focused care. You will ensure staff commitment to good evidence based practice, ensure the delivery of a quality service and that key targets and standards are being met.
To assist the Ward Manager in providing leadership and operational management to the ward, ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to all service users
You will assess, plan and implement care, and provide specialist nursing advice regarding acute care and crisis management.
You will provide clinical and managerial leadership to junior staff, and provide supervision to junior staff and students
To support the Ward Manager in the implementation and sustainment of quality improvement projects on the ward
To act as a positive role model to the team, demonstrating the core values of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust
To provide 24 hour senior nurse input to the unit and liaise with other agencies to support this duty
