Job summary
The Preparation PIPE (Psychologically Informed Planned Environment) at HMP/YOI Hindley is part of the National Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway, run in partnership with NHS England and HM Prison and Probation Service.
The PIPE aims to provide a supportive environment for up to 10 men who are finding it difficult to move on in prison and need some support before completing treatment or other sentence planning targets, as well as preparing for release into the community.
The PIPE does not provide treatment, rather the focus is upon improving motivation and readiness to move individuals forward through their care pathway. All residents present with complex risk and personality problems and work with the PIPE for between six months and two years to address the needs that have linked their personality problems to their offending.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with PIPE team (Psychology and HMPPS colleagues), leading the service in the provision and delivery of a range of purposeful activity interventions to service users within the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.
The post-holder will engage with and contribute to the development of clinical interventions on the PIPE at HMP/YOI Hindley. They will take responsibility for the implementation and development of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention. They will also contribute an OT perspective to the PIPE MDT approach.
The post holder will be responsible for liaison and collaboration with Occupational Therapy colleagues working across the National Personality Disorder Offender Pathway in facilitating and promoting the wider understanding of and utilisation of Occupational Therapy.
