Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Operational Leads within the AFS Care Group, supporting the Male Medium Secure Service and the Low Secure Service. The post of Operational Manager for AFS is integral to the safe, effective and high quality care within the inpatient forensic mental health services.
The post holder will take overall responsibility for the operations within the Male Medium Secure Service and the Low Secure Service in ensuring safe and efficient service delivery.
The Operational Manager, in conjunction with the inpatient Quality Matron, will provide clinical leadership and direction for teams in maintaining clinical and non-clinical standards of care and in implementing service improvements. The post holder will also play a proactive role in respective divisional SLT as required and participate in the bronze manager on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
The Operational Manager is responsible for providing high quality and effective care including the management and performance of the teams within their portfolio. In addition, theOperational Manager participates in ensuring the health, wellbeing and development of the workforce.
The post holders will be an integral part of the AFS Directorate senior leadership team.
The post holder will be required to provide management and professional leadership to the Ward Managers, and will be accountable for the teams' performance and all aspects of line management to the staff resource, including the implementation of appraisal and professional development planning.
The role requires experience in managing change, managing priorities and maintaining resilience which will be key in the very exciting period of the AFS service development.
The post holder will, as required, participate in the Trusts on call rota for Bronze On-call Managers.
