Job summary
We are looking to recruit a committed and dynamic HCPC psychologist to work within the multi-disciplinary mental health team within HMP Forest Bank. We are seeking a psychologist to support the development of the psychological provision being offered as part of the primary and secondary care mental health services.
The post holder would be expected to work closely with the wider MDT and provide supervision, oversight and support of the psychological therapies services which consists of psychological well-being practitioners, High Intensity therapists and an Assistant psychologist.
The post holder would also be expected to provide high-quality psychological advice and support to the mental health team and wider HMP staff and stakeholders. As such, the post-holder would be expected to build strong relationships with HMP partners to provide formulation driven understanding of offender mental health presentation to inform psychologically driven care and support. This is likely to include supporting MDT discussions, developing psychologically informed action-plans, supporting transition, and working closely with the custodial safety team and offender managers.
You must have been in the UK for 12 months prior to applying for this post and be able to provide a 6 year address history to be able to complete the prison clearance.
This role is subject to a additional recruitment and retention premia of £1542 per annum.
Main duties of the job
To work with individual service-users and others involved in their care to support improved psychological health and well-being.
To complete detailed and thorough psychological assessments to develop idiosyncratic and nuanced formulations considering a range of relevant factors.
To carefully consider service-user's interpersonal interactions, management of emotional regulation, past traumatic experiences and consideration of how this is linked to their mental health and behavioural presentation within custody.
To provide individual therapy, which is driven by detailed assessment and a strong working formulation.
To contribute to the multi-professional understanding of service-user presentation and support the development of a psychologically informed environment for the services-users to reside.
To provide supervision and support to other staff
To provide training to the mental health.
To engage in MDT discussions highlight the psychological needs of service users.
