Job summary
Marydale Lodge is a 14 bedded secure residential service for young men and women under the age of 18, who will arrive under a legal care and welfare order which hands responsibility to Nugent care for all aspects of their residential care. GMMH are the healthcare provider into the service, who are responsible for all aspects of their healthcare needs, and as such you will work closely as part of a multi disciplinary clinical team with other nurses, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, OT, speech and language therapists and transition workers.
Main duties of the job
This role is an exciting and diverse role which will involve managing a caseload of complex young people, and liaising with a number of different agencies within the secure centre, and externally. The role will include all aspect of care and management for the young person, in accordance with the national service specification for young people in secure care. The successful candidate will be welcome to be part of service developments and initiatives.
Within the Secure children's services' you will work as part of a national collaboration of providers working across the country into secure services, and as part of this you will be invited to attend the national networking events, and regional events with our partner organisations.
There is a wide offer of training for all new members of staff into the secure children's services, this includes all trust wide training opportunities and external training offers including all specific therapy training courses. Job responsibilities
As a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the post holder is responsible for completing assessments using the Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). Following this assessment and whilst young people are resident you will have to manage a caseload of young people.
Ensuring a range of assessments and interventions are implemented and evaluated with the young person, their families/carers and other members of the multiagency/disciplinary team, as appropriate.
The post holder will be expected to work very closely with the residential staff to help develop their skills and joint care plans to manage risks and meet the needs of the young people.
The post holder will provide assessment and therapy/treatment services for young people who experience problems with mental health associated with trauma due to significant care and life events. There will be intense liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies and services, including Social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and other services, as required.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical sessions to meet the needs of the young people.
The young people present with a range of diverse needs including complex trauma, neurodiversity, and common mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety, ADHD, sleep difficulties and depression).
