Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT) as an Assistant Service Manager (ASM) within our community mental health services.

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the operational management of services, contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality and effective care while supporting performance, quality, workforce and financial objectives. The role involves day-to-day oversight of community hubs, supporting service delivery in line with Trust standards, and contributing to waiting list management, performance and operational efficiency.

This post offers a strong development opportunity, working closely with senior operational managers to build experience across a wide range of operational and leadership responsibilities within a large mental health trust.

Main duties of the job

As an Assistant Service Manager, you will be working as part of the wider operational management team, supporting Clinical Team Managers, Therapy Leads and Medical Leads to deliver on Trust priorities and performance standards. The role includes monitoring activity and waiting lists, supporting delivery against key performance indicators and contributing to workforce planning and recruitment activity.

You will support service improvement and transformation initiatives, work closely with teams including HR, Finance, Informatics and contribute to governance processes such as risk management, incident reporting and PALS/complaints management. Effective communication, collaborative working, and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion are essential to the success of this role.
